Wind Waker Recomp
No Wind Waker recomp exists yet. The closest project is zeldaret/tww, a matching decompilation that rebuilds the game's GameCube code as C++ compiling back into a byte-identical executable. It is in progress and produces a GameCube build, not a native PC program. Every GameCube release is supported, including the Japanese kiosk demo.
How to play
- Dump your own GameCube disc of The Wind Waker to an image file. The repository contains no game assets or assembly.
- Clone zeldaret/tww from GitHub and install the dependencies listed in its README, starting with Python.
- Place the disc image where the README specifies and run the build; the output is a GameCube executable.

About this project
A matching decompilation is judged by one test: the rebuilt code must produce exactly the same binary as the retail game. Progress is tracked separately for the main DOL executable and the REL modules that hold most actors and stages. Decompilations of this kind are the foundation that native ports are usually built on later; Twilight Princess followed that path when Dusklight was built on its own decompilation. No native PC port of The Wind Waker is listed here as of the verification date.
FAQ
Is there a Wind Waker PC port?
None is listed on Recompedia as of Oct 15, 2026. zeldaret/tww is a decompilation that builds a GameCube executable; it does not by itself produce a native PC program.
Which Wind Waker versions does the decomp support?
GZLE01 (USA, plus the Korean revision), GZLP01 (PAL), GZLJ01 (Japan) and the D44J01 Japanese kiosk demo.
Does the Wind Waker decomp include the game?
No. An existing copy of the game is required to build it.
Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, BIOS files or game assets. Every project listed requires a copy of the original game owned by the player. Status checked against the project's own repository on Oct 15, 2026.
